Incorporated in 1912, and inherited by the BC government in 1918 after a bankruptcy, the line was known for being the "road to nowhere" as the BC government didn't have the funds to complete it.  It wasn't until the 1950’s the PGE finally built into Prince George, giving it the nickname “Prince George Eventually" until it was renamed in 1972.
